Wieland Powers the Way for New Marlborough School
Wieland has supplied its Metalynx2 modular wiring system, along with a variety of components for lighting and power distribution, throughout the new Marlborough Primary School in London W3.
The project being overseen by main contractor Mace, is part of a redevelopment by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to provide a new two form entry primary school in the heart of Chelsea.
It has seen the old unsuitable Victorian school building on the site demolished and the construction of a new Marlborough Primary School. The new school is larger than old one and provides 5,668 sq. m of space including new halls, studio space, classrooms and a biodiversity roof. External play spaces are also larger than the old school and include a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) on the top level.
All electrical work on the school has been overseen by PhoenixME Limited who specified using Wieland's Metalynx2, a prefabricated wiring system for the distribution of all lighting and power supply throughout the new build. This also includes the installation of home runs, master distribution box, extender cables, fused spur units and T connectors. Wieland's modular wiring system has been specified for this project as it offers total flexibility and should any layout need to be changed during fit-out or at any time in the future, Metalynx2 can easily be adapted to suit any new power or lighting configuration.
